When to Use Nano Banana Pro
Nano Banana Pro is the premium path for polished image generation, marketing visuals, and high-quality editing workflows.
Nano Banana Pro is the premium model family in the current fal.ai notes. It costs more than the other Nano Banana options, so the product should make its role clear: use it when output quality matters more than minimizing credit spend.
That makes Pro especially useful for final assets, marketing visuals, product imagery, and edits where polish is the point.
Generate with Pro
The generate endpoint is fal-ai/nano-banana-pro. It requires prompt, and the current docs include common optional inputs such as num_images, aspect_ratio, output_format, safety_tolerance, resolution, seed, limit_generations, enable_web_search, and sync_mode.
The documented resolutions are:
1K2K4K
A minimal request looks like this:
{
"prompt": "A premium packaging hero shot with crisp typography",
"resolution": "1K"
}Edit with Pro
The edit endpoint is fal-ai/nano-banana-pro/edit. It requires both prompt and image_urls, which means it should be presented as an image-first workflow.
{
"prompt": "Upgrade this product shot into a luxury brand campaign image",
"image_urls": ["https://example.com/product.png"],
"resolution": "1K"
}This is the right fit when the source image already has value and the user wants to elevate it rather than start over.
Web search and thinking level
Nano Banana Pro supports enable_web_search in the checked-in docs. That means the UI can expose a web-search control for Pro prompts that benefit from external context.
The current Pro docs do not document thinking_level. That matters because the UI should not copy Nano Banana 2 controls blindly. Pro can be premium without having every advanced toggle that Nano Banana 2 has.
Pricing and positioning
The pricing baseline is $0.15 / image. That is meaningfully higher than Nano Banana 2, so Pro should be positioned as a deliberate upgrade.
Good use cases include:
- Premium product imagery.
- Campaign visuals that need stronger composition.
- Typography-heavy scenes where detail matters.
- Image edits that need to preserve intent while improving polish.
- Final outputs after cheaper models have been used for exploration.
The practical rule
Use Nano Banana Pro when the image is closer to final than exploratory. If the user is still brainstorming, Nano Banana 2 is usually the better first stop. If the user has a strong prompt or source image and wants the most polished result, Pro is the right path.
